The best of the best apartments for rent in Upper Hill
Regarded as the financial district of Nairobi, Upper hill is a fast growing business locale, situated less than 5 km from the Central Business District (CBD). The district is popularized by its modern, towering, state of the art skyscrapers. It is only until recently that Upper Hill became a regional commercial hub. In previous years, the district was primarily an upper middle class residential area with many colonial style homes sitting on huge tracts of land. Today, almost every major brand, blue chip corporation and organization, both local and international, has their regional headquarters in Upper Hill. These are housed in well-designed and organized office buildings, and one is sure to be mesmerized when walking through the district and seeing all the high rise buildings. Coca-Cola, Microsoft East Africa, the World Bank, Equity Bank, CIC insurance are some of the few renowned companies with swanky regional nerve centres in this part of Nairobi.
The area's infrastructure is characterized by well-lit and well maintained roads, and broad pavements for pedestrians. The public transport system to and from the neighbourhood is also quite elaborate with multiple pickup points all around. Upper Hill is served by one police station, in addition to the many private security firms offering services to the business and individual residents. Additionally, the presence of more than 3 foreign embassies; British, Japanese and Spanish consulates, makes the area relatively safer considering the heavy investment they have made in private security arrangements.
Serviced Apartments and Low Income Apartments Available
In terms of houses and apartments in Upper Hill, many of the residential sections are pleated together in gated communities. Modern, tastefully finished 10 – 15 storey rental apartment buildings have cropped up in different shapes and sizes, replacing the formerly established vintage residential units.
A big percentage of these apartments for rent are serviced on a weekly basis and are some of the best furnished apartments in Nairobi. The rise in such rental agreements is attributed to the demand for convenient housing by the huge number of professionals working for the different national and multinational companies.
Anyone wanting to rent fully furnished 2 – 3 bedroom apartments would expect to pay anything from KSh 100,000 to KSh 300,000, depending on proximity to the main highway and social amenities, and the all-round curb appeal of the property. However, this is not to say that Upper Hill’s real estate scene is purely luxurious. There are a number of modest affordable housing also available, which have been constructed by organizations and companies for their staff. One example of this is the Kenyatta Hospital estate which consist of over 500 units of 2- 4 bedroom apartments for rent at exceptionally affordable prices.
